Stækkaðu framtíðina was launched on 29th February by Áslaug Arna Sigurbjörnsdóttir, Minister of Higher Education, Industry and Innovation, and Ásmundur Einar Daðason, Minister of Education and Children. Over 600 volunteers have already signed up, with the project aiming to broaden the horizons of students in primary and secondary schools across the country, giving all young people in Iceland the opportunity to connect with a diverse range of role models. This is achieved by linking professionals from various fields with classrooms, where volunteers share their work and educational experiences.
At the launch, a goal was set to reach 1,000 volunteers in the coming weeks. Stækkaðu framtíðina has received a highly positive response, with great interest in the project, which is modelled after the UK initiative ‘Inspiring the Future.’ In just over two weeks, more than 600 volunteers have committed to taking part, making the goal of 1,000 volunteers seem well within reach.
Do you have an hour to help inspire the future? Sign up!
Anyone willing to inspire the future of young people by sharing their educational and career journeys is encouraged to sign up. We especially encourage men and non-binary individuals, as well as those outside the capital area, to volunteer, ensuring that young people across the country have the chance to meet diverse role models. Signing up is simple, and volunteers can choose how many school visits they can manage—based on their time and interest.
