Stækkaðu Framtíðina follows the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) in all its work. According to Article 12 of the Convention, children must be allowed to express their views on matters affecting them. Stækkaðu Framtíðina also operates in accordance with the Icelandic Primary School Act No. 91/2008 and regulations derived from this law, including obtaining consent for photography, video recording, and the use of such material in schools.
We strive to obtain children’s consent for the use of any identifiable images taken of them by the Stækkaðu Framtíðina project. This applies to images intended for use in connection with the project on the website, in newsletters, promotional materials, or other individual project activities. All visual content is stored on the Stækkaðu Framtíðina website, and the project uses images and videos solely to provide professional insights into its activities. Photographs and videos are only taken of children during volunteer visits to schools, with school staff present at all times.
Personal information is not shared with third parties or external entities without permission and is treated as confidential.
Our rules regarding photography, video recording, and the publication of visual content:
We will not disclose the names or any other identifying information of children featured in our visual content unless there are special circumstances, such as when a child wishes to share their positive experience with the project.
Stækkaðu Framtíðina staff are not permitted to take photos or videos of students using personal devices.
All photography, video recording, and publication of visual content will be carried out with care, respect, and ethical consideration, and children will never be portrayed inappropriately.
It is also the policy of Stækkaðu Framtíðina to inform parents and seek their consent for the use of images of their children for the purposes mentioned above.
If the situation arises where a child and parent disagree on the use of an image, the following applies:
If a child refuses the publication and use of an image, the child’s wishes must always be respected.
If a child under 12 years old consents to publication but the parent refuses, the parent’s decision prevails.
If a child aged 12 or older consents to publication but the parent refuses, the child’s decision prevails.
If a parent or child requests the removal of an image from our website, we will act promptly to do so.
We extend our sincere thanks to all those who have assisted in promoting the project by allowing the use of images.
