Inspiring the future

Stækkaðu framtíðina or Inspiring the future, connects professionals with classrooms across the country to share their work and educational experiences with students. This broadens the horizons of the pupils, giving all young people in Iceland the opportunity to engage with a diverse range of role models.

These visits can take place in the classroom or online, making the programme accessible to everyone

Volunteers

We are looking for a diverse range of volunteers to meet the diverse needs of students. Some young people need role models with similar backgrounds, while others want to explore careers they never knew existed or find inspiration in their areas of interest.

Different perspectives broaden students’ horizons, spark their interest in the future, and inspire them to pursue their dreams.

‘The kids probably inspire me more than I inspire them. Stækkaðu framtíðina is a fantastic initiative, and I only wish it had existed when I was younger.’ – Heiðdís Inga, volunteer”

Schools

Stækkaðu framtíðina is an exciting initiative for all primary and secondary schools across the country. Volunteers from various professional fields visit classrooms to share their experiences of work, education, and life journeys.

The programme ensures that all students have equal access to a wide range of educational and career options, with their interests and talents at the forefront.

By learning about diverse careers and hearing personal stories from the world of work, students discover new future possibilities and develop a greater enthusiasm for learning.”
